KUALA LUMPUR: Health officials in Japan have told soccer officials they cannot hold an international competition there because of concerns over SARS (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome), the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) said yesterday.
Japanese organisers of the AFC's Futsal Championship, scheduled for July 27-Aug 5, have informed the confederation that it could not host the event due to instructions from the Ministry of Health ... on consideration of the SARS situation in the region, the AFC said in a statement.
