PAVIA (Italy): Alessandro Petacchi overcame injuries from a crash to win the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia, a 207-km flat course between Arco di Trento and Pavia on Monday.
It was the fifth stage success in this year's Giro for the bandaged Italian, who had almost pulled out on Monday morning after a fall halfway through Sunday’s time trial.
