LONDON: Birmingham boss Steve Bruce was reported on Friday to have launched a £5.5mil (US$9mil) bid to sign England midfielder David Dunn from Blackburn.
Neither club have confirmed the move but Bruce admitted he admired the player, who has rejected new contract talks at his current club.
“Yes, David Dunn is one we are looking at,” Bruce told the Birmingham Evening Mail.
“He fits the bill in that he is a talented and exciting player and he's young too, which is typical of what we want. I am a great admirer of his and we have made an inquiry about him.”
It is thought Dunn would jump at the chance of a fresh start, although he may yet be content to wait and see what other offers come his way.
If a deal did go through, the fee would eclipse the £4.25mil Bruce paid Crystal Palace for Clinton Morrison 12 months ago and strengthen a squad reinforced by the arrival of Christophe Dugarry and Matthew Upson during the January transfer window. – AFP
