SEVILLE (Spain): Michel Platini's plan to scrap the Champions League and UEFA Cup and replace them with one 256-team knockout competition was dismissed as ill-thought out and destructive by UEFA president Lennart Johansson on Wednesday.
Platini, voted on to the FIFA and UEFA Executive Committees last year, floated his idea to “make football more democratic.”
