PETALING JAYA: Selangor's Ivan Jayavenkatesh Rao not only outclassed the bigger names to win the gold medal in the men's individual free rifle prone event on the second day of the Tan Sri Datuk S. M. Yong trophy at the Subang Shooting Range – he also qualified for the Vietnam SEA Games.
The 22-year-old Ivan, who is not in the national training squad, shot a score of 692.9 points. His score of 591 in the preliminary rounds beat the SEA Games qualifying mark of 589.
