PETALING JAYA: The world football governing body, FIFA, confirmed yesterday that Malaysia had progressed into the final round of the qualifying tournament for the Asian Zone of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
The FA of Malaysia (FAM) received news late on Thursday night that FIFA had decided to exclude Turkmenistan from the qualifying competition after they failed to turn up for the first-leg match, which had been scheduled at the Shah Alam Stadium on May 3.
