BEIJING: China's anti-SARS team has a new member: basketball star Yao Ming.
The Houston Rockets centre plans to host a telethon on Sunday in his hometown of Shanghai to raise money for Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome research, said his agent Eric Zhang. He said the Shanghai branch of the Chinese Red Cross would be taking donations from callers.
