MADRID: Goals from Real Madrid's Brazilian World Cup winning pair of Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos gave the reigning European champions a slender 2-1 victory over Juventus in their Champions League semi-final first leg here on Tuesday.
In a less-than-vintage performance, which hardly compared with their bewitching displays in the quarter-final against Manchester United, Ronaldo opened the scoring for Real midway through the first half but the hosts were stunned when French striker David Trezeguet levelled just before the break.
