KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia are assured of a place in the quarter-finals of the women's Junior Fed Cup Asia-Oceania regional qualifying zone after beating Philippines 3-0 in their opening Group One match at the National Tennis Sports Complex in Jalan Duta yesterday.
And they have 13-year-old Jawariah Noordin to thank for the victory. Debutant Jawariah, playing as the second singles player, came from behind to upset Catherine Flores 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 to hand Malaysia the first point.
