ROME: World number one Andre Agassi defends his ATP Italian Open crown at the Rome Masters Series which starts here today at the leafy Foro Italico. 

Agassi defeated compatriot Andy Roddick in the US clay court championships last month to end Lleyton Hewitt’s 75 week reign at the summit of the men’s game and became at 33 the oldest player ever to top the ATP rankings.
