WARSAW: Daniela Hantuchova’s frustrating season continued yesterday when a combination of Colombia’s Fabiola Zuluaga and a vicious swirling wind conspired to knock her out of the 700,000-euro event.
The leggy Slovakian third-seed lost 6-2, 6-4 to her Colombian opponent and then blamed the windy conditions for her unexpected defeat. Chairs were blown over on the red clay court, and the roofs of tents surrounding the playing area were in danger of blowing away.
