WELKOM (South Africa): Sete Gibernau of Spain on a Honda posted the fastest qualifying lap yesterday to deny defending world champion Valentino Rossi of Italy pole position for today's 500cc African Grand Prix at the Phakisa Freeway Circuit.
Rossi, last year's winner on the circuit, only managed to improve on his qualifying time from Friday on his Repsol Honda on the 25th of 28 completed laps, but Gibernau's Telefonica Movistar Honda was hooked up right from the start, and he had three circuits quicker than Rossi's best of 1:33.370.
