Futsal meet to be free of SARS

KUALA LUMPUR: The local authorities concerned will ensure that the health and safety of all involved in the inaugural Kuala Lumpur World 5's Futsal tournament scheduled at the Bukit Jalil Indoor Stadium here from June 3 to 8 would be free of the deadly illness Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). 

A total of 12 of the world best futsal playing nations will converge in KL to vie for the US$150,000 tournament, which would include world champions Spain, former champions Brazil and top futsal teams from England, Italy, Holland, Russia, Iran, Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and hosts Malaysia. 

The KL World 5's presented by Rakan Muda is sanctioned by the football world governing body, FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).  

It is the only world-class futsal event scheduled to take place in Asia this year.
