Malaysia may propose for postponement of SEA Games

PENANG: Malaysia will propose to Vietnam to draw up contingency plans for the 22nd SEA Games, including a possible postponement of the biennial sports carnival, in view of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak there.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia’s (OCM) secretary, Datuk Sieh Kok Chi, said that this was necessary as the epidemic could drag on until too close to the Games, which are scheduled for December.
