AUGUSTA (Georgia): Len Mattiace wiped the tears from his cheek after losing a sudden-death playoff at the Masters, stunned by a Sunday of golf that brought him great joy and agonising heartache.
The 35-year-old American, whose missed the cut 15 years ago in his only prior Masters, fired a seven-under par 65 in the final round but lost to Mike Weir on the first sudden-death playoff hole to miss a chance at a major title.
