Tan Fook may hang up the racket after SEA Games

KUALA LUMPUR: The SEA Games in Vietnam in December could be the last international tournament for doubles player Choong Tan Fook.

The 27-year-old Tan Fook said that he is bothered by an injury on the right knee, which he picked up at the 2001 SEA Games and recurred in the Manchester Commonwealth Games last year.

“The National Sports Institute (NSI) director, Dr Ramlan Aziz, has advised me to avoid getting injured at the same place for the third time,” said Tan Fook at the Juara Stadium in Bukit Kiara here yesterday.

“If the injury recurs, I will seriously consider turning to coaching and I hope the BAM (Badminton Association of Malaysia) are receptive (to the move).”

On the Vietnam Games, scheduled for Dec 5-13, Tan Fook said that together with partner Lee Wan Wah, they would want to help Malaysia retain the team gold medal and try to win the individual title. – Bernama
