AUCKLAND: Peugeot's Marcus Gronholm won the Rally of New Zealand yesterday for a second consecutive year, reaching second place in the World Championship behind team-mate Richard Burns.
Finland's Gronholm led the rally – from South Auckland and around the central North Island – from start to finish and went into the last day of action in complete control to win the rally by a margin of 1.08min ahead of Briton Burns. Subaru driver Petter Solberg, of Norway, was 2.09min behind Gronholm.
