Augusta stand their ground on women membership

AUGUSTA: A defiant Hootie Johnson stood his ground in the face of an intense grilling on Wednesday, the embattled chairman saying even his death would not change the club's controversial all-male membership policy.

“If I drop dead, right now, our position will not change on this issue,” said Johnson on the eve of the 67th US Masters. “It's not my issue alone. And I promise you what I'm saying is if I drop dead this second our position will not change.”
