LONDON: Spain appeared on course for its first Davis Cup semi-final in three years after sweeping the opening singles matches yesterday for a 2-0 lead over Croatia in their World Group quarter-final tie.
In other quarter-finals, Australia held a 2-0 lead over Sweden; France and Switzerland were tied at 1-1; and Argentina was 1-0 up against defending champion Russia.
