MUNICH: The lawyer of former Germany star Lothar Matthaus, now coach of Partizan Belgrade, said on Thursday he was launching a legal claim for 500,000 euros he says are owed to his client's May 2000 testimonial.
“We are sorry to have to lodge this complaint. I think the tribunal is now going to fix a date (for a hearing),” said Matthaus' lawyer Wolfgang Sturzer.
Former Bayern star Matthaus insists he is owed the money, while Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness said the club was “happy to have a trial which will finally shed some light on this affair.”
Last month Hoeness appealed to Matthaus not to take the matter to the law courts. – AFP
