Malaysians' challenge ends in third round

TOKYO: Malaysia's challenge in the Japan Open badminton championships was blanked out in the third round with the exit of Mohd Roslin Hashim, Ong Ewe Hock and Ismail Saman at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium here yesterday.

Roslin failed yet again to get the better of the top seeded Chen Hong of China, going down tamely 3-15, 11-15 in 48 minutes. It was the 27-year-old Roslin’s eighth defeat by the world number one in nine meetings.
