Fiba launch new logos to promote basketball

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federation of International Basketball Associations (Fiba) launched their new corporate identity and Asia's logo yesterday to enable them to become more visible in the sports world.

Fiba-Asia Basketball Confederation secretary-general Datuk Yeoh Choo Hock said that Fiba and their continental organisations decided to enter a new era globally to make basketball to be better known.

He said the use of the new logo came together with the new slogan “Peace Through Basketball”, which had been used since last year.

“We have been working on this new logo throughout last year and the Fiba Central Board only gave their green light in November,” said Choo Hock at the launch held at Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) headquarters here today.

“As for the slogan, it has been used widely before and we did not put it in because of the war in Iraq.

“We do stress peace in basketball all this while.”

The ceremony was officiated by the Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) secretary-general, Datuk Seah Kok Chi. – Bernama
