NAIROBI: The African Football Federation (CAF) suspended Kenya from their youth competitions for two years on Tuesday after the east African country fielded overage players in a qualifier against Ghana.

Kenya's Sports Minister Najib Balala disbanded the national Under-17 team in February after he admitted Kenya had used at least one overage player in the side that eliminated Ghana 3-2 in a qualifying match for the African youth championship.

CAF’s decision affects all age category competitions from Under-21 downwards.

Kenya's senior team are on the verge of qualifying for next year's African Nations Cup Finals after beating Mauritania 4-0 in Nairobi on Saturday. Kenya have a three-point lead over Cape Verde Islands in Group 5 after three matches. – Reuters
