BERLIN: Germany has pledged to make the 2006 World Cup the greenest sporting tournament ever, laying on buses, offering reusable dishes instead of disposable plates at matches and even channelling rain water on to pitches.
The 2006 World Cup will be the first large sporting event whose impact on the environment is neutral, organisers said on Monday at the launch of what they call operation Green Goal.
