National bowler leads Malaysian men's charge

PETALING JAYA: National bowler Azidi Ameran sparkled to lead Malaysia's charge in the men's Masters Finals after the first block of eight games in the Malaysian Open bowling Championships at the Pyramid Mega Lanes here yesterday.

Following the failure of Ben Heng to even qualify for the Masters Finals despite several desperate attempts on the last day of qualifying on Thursday, the 31-year-old Azidi kept the local men's hopes alive for a good showing in the Malaysian Open when he sizzled with lines of 257-245-189-217-257-277-216-238 for a total score of 1,896 pinfalls to lead the pack.
