SYDNEY: Australia’s Ian Thorpe has withdrawn from next month’s “Duel in the Pool” against the United States because of a viral illness, the triple world record holder said yesterday.
“I felt with the advice that I’ve had...that it wasn’t wise for me to put my body or my health at risk,” Thorpe told reporters. “I won’t attribute me not swimming PBs (personal bests) to my illness.
