JOHANNESBURG: Ricky Ponting produced the biggest innings in a World Cup cricket final and Australia amassed a record total to highlight the gulf between the world’s number one side and their rivals.
Ponting described his 140 off 121 balls as the most significant innings of his career, propelling Australia to 359 for two, although he said the 125-run win over India in Sunday’s World Cup decider was merely the 17th in an undefeated series.
