LONDON: Ruud van Nistelrooy gave a record Premiership crowd at Old Trafford plenty to a cheer about yesterday with a hat-trick that sent Manchester United above Arsenal at the top with a 3-0 triumph over Fulham.
It was also a hugely significant day at the bottom of the table with West Ham escaping from the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over doomed bottom-club Sunderland and Birmingham moving to the brink of safety thanks to a stoppage time winner over West Brom.
