KUALA LUMPUR: Giant-killers MSS Terengganu are going to throw caution to the wind and go all out to claim the scalp of Tenaga Nasional in a MHF-Milo-NSC-Admiral Junior Hockey League match at the Kuala Lumpur Hockey Stadium today.
The Terengganu side want to build on the win they scored over overall champions Telekom Pahang last week.
Coach Mohamed Asari said before leaving Kuala Terengganu for KL yesterday: “There is no point beating a top team and then fall flat on our faces in the next match. I have told the players to go all out for a win over Tenaga and I believe they have the ability to do so.
“We are aware that winning the title is beyond our reach but we have to make full use of the opportunities to achieve the target of a top six finish and qualify for the quarter-finals.”
MSS Terengganu are in seventh place in the table with seven points from two wins and a draw. They drew with Yayasan NS, defeated Johor Sports Council and lost to Malaysia Sports School before beating Telekom.
They will reach the halfway mark with the game against Tenaga and their remaining matches after a three-week break are against Srii Aroma, MPK-Olak, MPPJ and Anderson-XYBase.
“A win over Tenaga will put us in a good position because we have matches against several lower rank teams and we can make the cut (for the quarter-finals),” said Asari.
He added that his backline, with Mohamed Azmi Sulaiman and Mohamed Amri clicking well in the heart of the defence, had shaped up well and goalkeeper Nurul Fakhri was in good form.
