ROME: A board meeting of the Italian Football Federation (Federcalcio) on Tuesday set a freeze on the number of players from countries outside the European Community participating in their top domestic leagues.
“From next season, all clubs wanting to acquire a player from outside the EC will first be required to give up another,” the president of the Italian Footballers Association, Sergio Campana, told reporters outside Federcalcio's Rome headquarters on Tuesday.
