DOHA: Brazil striker Romario, a member of the 1994 World Cup winning squad, will be blocked from playing for his new Qatar club Al Sadd in the Asian Champions League after signing a US$1.2 million deal for three months.
Al Sadd signed the 36-year-old striker primarily to boost their Champions League prospects but an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) spokesman said on Friday that he was ineligible to play.
