Frustrating day for Alinghi as light winds force postponement


AUCKLAND: Light winds forced the postponement of race five of the America’s Cup yesterday, frustrating Swiss challengers Alinghi’s hopes of closing out the series to become the first European team to win the event. 

Biotechnology billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli’s Alinghi lead holders Team New Zealand 4-0 in the best-of-nine series and need to win only one more race to claim world sport’s oldest trophy.
