PARIS: In-form Monaco closed the gap on league leaders Olympique Marseille after a 3-1 victory at home to title-challengers AJ Auxerre in the French First Division on Sunday.
Dado Prso put Monaco ahead with a goal in the 14th minute and Ludovic Giuly doubled the advantage shortly after the break before Djibril Cisse pulled one back for the visitors in the 55th minute.
Shabani Nonda put the result beyond doubt for Didier Deschamps team with his 14th goal of the season 16 minutes from time.
The victory lifts Monaco, unbeaten in their last 12 league games, to 49 points, two behind Marseille, who were 2-0 winners over struggling Lille on Saturday. Reuters
