MEMPHIS: Taylor Dent overwhelmed top seed and defending champion Andy Roddick 6-1, 6-4 to win the Kroger St. Jude tournament and capture his second career title on Sunday.
Dent, who had not won a match in three previous events this season, needed exactly one hour to dispose of Roddick and cap off a brilliant week that included wins over fifth seed Jan-Michael Gambill and hard-serving Mark Philippoussis.
