MEMPHIS: Top-seeded defending champion Andy Roddick advanced to the finals of the US$690,000 ATP St. Jude Classic here on Saturday with a 7-5, 6-1 triumph over fellow American Brian Vahaly.
The 20-year-old rising star will face another compatriot, Taylor Dent, in yesterday's championship match. Dent ousted Vince Spadea 6-2, 6-4 in 74 minutes in the first ATP semi-finals since 1995 to feature four United States players.
