PARIS: Liverpool seek to salvage a faltering season when they take on French side Auxerre in the first leg of the UEFA Cup quarter-finals in France today.
Gerard Houllier's side fell out of contention for the Premier League title with a disastrous run of 11 games without a win and were knocked out of the FA Cup by Crystal Palace, so their season boils down to the League Cup final against Manchester United next month and Europe's second-tier club competition.
