Johor off to flying start in the FA Cup

PETALING JAYA: Premier II table-toppers Johor began their FA Cup campaign by trouncing Kelantan TNB 4-1 in the first-leg match at the Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Baru yesterday. 

Johor, who had defeated Perak TKN (2-0) and Kelantan JPS (5-2) in the league, raced to a 4-0 lead yesterday, with a brace from Mohamed Farid Ideris in the 10th and 46th minutes and a goal each from Suhaimi Jamil in the 20th and import player Daniel Watkins in the 64th minutes. Mohamed Zamnie Dulissah (72nd) got the consolation goal for TNB. 

Seven more matches in the first round will be played today. But the big guns – defending champions Penang, Malaysia Cup champions Selangor and Premier I champions Perak – have all received a first round bye. The others who received byes were Johor FC, Sabah, Police, Negri Sembilan, Kelantan JPS.
