PETALING JAYA: Newcomers Malacca Telekom have signed up a former Ghanaian youth international striker Thomas Duah to strengthen their campaign in Premier I this season.
The 25-year-old Duah comes with strong credentials, having played 22 matches with the Ghana Under-21 squad and scoring 12 goals. He has also played for clubs like Nuremberg FC, St Pauli in Germany, Auxerre in France and Neoplan Stars in Ghana.
Coach Mat Zan Mat Aris said Duah would be fielded in an attacking midfield position to lend support to their top goal poacher Isaac Kuffour, the Golden Boot winner in Premier II with 22 goals last year.
Telekom have set a modest target to maintain their position in Premier I and hope to finish among the top five in the 13-team league.
Team manager Ismail Nordin on the other hand is counting on the team to land their hands on at least one of the three major trophies and the Fair Play award this season. Last year, Telekom won promotion by virtue of finishing second in the table and also qualified to the semi-finals of the FA Cup competition.
Telekom open their campaign against league champions Perak at the Perak Stadium in Ipoh at 8.45pm tomorrow.
