BERLIN: Bayern Munich’s former captain Lothar Matthaeus has dropped his lawsuit against the club over money he said he was still owed from his testimonial nearly two years ago.
“Without any legal obligation to do so, Lothar Matthaeus has filed a motion to suspend the case after discussion with lawyers and seeks a personal discussion to re-examine the matter,” Bayern Munich said in a short statement, adding the club was willing to talk with their former player. Matthaeus, who earned a record 150 international caps and captained West Germany to World Cup success in 1990, filed a 500,000 euro (US$538,700) lawsuit against Bayern, an action attacked by Uli Hoeness, Bayern’s commercial manager.
