PETALING JAYA: Kelantan will have to forget their intention to sign Thai striker Voravut Srimaka for the 2003 season due to the player's commitments with his club in Bangkok.
Kelantan technical director, Dali Omar said he was recently informed by the management that they were unable to sign the Thai due to his commitments with his old club in Thailand.
“Since that is the case, we may have to postpone our plans to include a foreign signing in the team,” said Dali.
However, he said, Kelantan would continue looking for a foreign striker. The closing date for registering foreign players is July 23.
After finishing 10th in the league last season, Dali said their target this year would be to better that position.
In a quadrangular tournament played last week, Kelantan ended up as champions with two wins (beating Kelantan JPS 3-1 and Kelantan TNB 2-1) and a 1-1 draw against Kelantan SKMK-Transnasional.
The team will play in two more friendlies – against Terengganu on Saturday, and will play host to a Thailand club on Feb 11 before they begin their campaign in the league on Feb 15.
