PARIS: France’s Amelie Mauresmo showed world number one Serena Williams she is ready to avenge losing the Paris Indoor Open title in 1999 to her when she set up a final showdown with the American in the US$585,000 tournament yesterday.
Top seed Williams dispatched Greek eighth seed Eleni Daniilidou 6-2, 6-0 in 46 minutes and not to be outdone in her own backyard, third seed Mauresmo scored a 6-0, 6-0 whitewash against Russian Elena Dementieva in 42 minutes.
