A dismal start for Beng Heng as he falls in first round


LINKOPING (Sweden): Defending Swedish Open champion Ong Beng Hee could not have asked for a worse start to the year. The Malaysian crashed out in the first round of the championships at the hands of South African qualifier, Rodney Durbach on Thursday. 

The third seeded Beng Hee threw away a 2-0 lead, losing the next three sets to concede the match 15-12, 15-13, 9-15, 13-15, 13-15 and a place in the quarter- finals to world number 36 Durbach in 94 minutes. The South African now takes on sixth seeded Joseph Kneipp of Australia, who beat Finn Olli Tuominen 15-12, 15-11, 15-12.
