Kuala Lumpur keen on signing Slovaks for new season

PETALING JAYA: Premier II outfit Kuala Lumpur have roped in two Slovakian players to help them in their bid to secure promotion to Premier I next season.

Team manager Datuk Hilmi Ismail said the duo – Martin Filipak and Lumomir Horochonik – were brought by KL's new coach, Igor Novar, himself a Slovakian.

“The duo have passed the fitness and medical tests. They are just waiting for their work permits,” said Hilmi.

Filipak plays as an attacking midfielder, while Horochonik, a central defender, arrived last week and have been put to the paces. Hilmi said the management were impressed by their performance and have decided to sign the duo.

“I believe the duo will be able to help improve our squad this year, since most of the players are newly promoted from the President and Milo Cup teams,” said Hilmi, who added that only five seniors have been retained.

A poor performance which saw them finishing second from the bottom last season and being relegated.
