LONDON: Newcastle United's star teenager Jermaine Jenas is set to be rewarded for his outstanding performances this season by winning a call-up to the England squad, it was reported on Sunday.

Jenas, who turns 20 on Feb 18, was told by England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson that he will be part of his plans, and the midfielder could celebrate his birthday early with a call up for the friendly with Australia on Feb 12.

Jenas, who cost £5 million when Bobby Robson signed him from Nottingham Forest last season, has grabbed Eriksson's attention with his rich vein of scoring form having hit the back of the net five times in four matches. – AFP
