MELBOURNE: World number one Lleyton Hewitt was named Young Australian of the Year yesterday. The 21-year-old Wimbledon champion received the award from Australia Prime Minister John Howard at a special ceremony in Melbourne.
Hewitt was recognised for his outstanding performances in 2002 when he became the first Australian to win the Wimbledon singles title since Pat Cash in 1987.
