DAKAR: Liverpool forward El-Hadji Diouf of Senegal was on Thursday voted the top African footballer of 2002 ahead of international teammate Pape Bouba Diop, who plays for French side Lens.
Diouf, who is struggling to cement a regular place in Gerard Houllier’s Premier League team, took the Gold Star award with 186 points, voted on by 55 journalists on the African continent.
