LONDON: Brazil’s World Cup winning goalkeeper Marcos says he is close to joining English champions Arsenal following talks in London with the Premier League club.
The 29-year-old, who was given permission by his Brazilian club Palmeiras to make the trip, was quoted as saying in Thursday’s Evening Standard: “It is possible I will be here by the end of the month. There are many formalities to be sorted out first but, yes, I could be an Arsenal player this season. I am hopeful the transfer will be sorted out before I go back to Brazil tonight.”
