MELBOURNE: Serena Williams should move a step closer to completing the “Serena Slam” when she comes up against fellow American Meghann Shaughnessy in the quarter-finals today.
The 21-year-old, chasing a non-calendar year sweep of Grand Slams after capturing the French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open in 2002, will be expected to brush aside the 25th-seeded Shaughnessy in much the same way she won her last three matches.
