MELBOURNE: Lleyton Hewitt’s dreams of becoming the first homegrown Australian Open champion in 27 years were shattered yesterday by Moroccan journeyman Younes El Aynaoui. 

El Aynaoui proved too hot to handle for world No.1 Hewitt and scored a sensational upset in four sets, as day eight saw tournament officials invoke new heat-safety rules for the first time to halt play.
