Ronald ushers new year with first GP title in Bangkok


BANGKOK: Ronald Susilo of Singapore defeated Thailand's Boonsak Polsana 15-10, 7-15, 15-10 to win his maiden Grand Prix men's singles title in the US$30,000 Thailand Open at the National Gymnasium here yesterday. 

The Indonesian-born player, who defeated Manchester Commonwealth Games champion Mohd Hafiz Hashim of Malaysia in the semi-finals on Saturday, came close of winning his first major title last year but lost to China’s Chen Hong in final of the Singapore Open.
